1992–93
Roma endured a disappointing Serie A campaign, finishing 10th, far from the title race. The squad featured talents like Giuseppe Giannini and Thomas Häßler, but inconsistency and lack of firepower hurt them. In the Coppa Italia, they fared better, reaching the final before losing to Torino on away goals (5–5 aggregate).
1993–94
Things declined further as Roma slipped to 7th in Serie A, again missing out on Europe. Despite Rudi Völler leading the attack and the rise of a young Francesco Totti, the club struggled for stability. Their Coppa Italia campaign ended in the quarter-finals.
